In block/crude marble-travertine exports, the first place belongs
to the People’s Republic of China which boosted its $10.5 million
of exports by 81% to $19.2 million in 2002.
The second and third top purchasers of Turkish marble are Syria, $5.6 million and Greece,
$4.7 million.
Exports to these countries were 67% and 58% more respectively,
than in 2001. In fourth place, exports to Italy were down by 15% from
$4.5 million in 2001 to $3.7 million in 2002.
Total block/crude marble-travertine exports were raised by 26% from the $39.7 million
in 2001 to $49.9 million in 2002.
